Ali Tuttu Amittu


This is an old sculpture, circa 1950's or 1960's, in very good condition.  A large piece, carved in pale green stone. Signed very faintly on the base in syllabics and disk number, by the artist Allie Tuttu Amittu (1926 -1983).

Known as Allie Awp he was a first generation Inuit artist, from the community of Puvirnituq, located in Nunavik.  Ali (Allie) was known for great detailing in his work.
