January 2026 marks the eleventh year in business for WithAPast so it seems like a good time to look back and take stock.
We started out with a very simple idea. To find new homes for quality, vintage home decor items while reducing the environmental impact of everyday purchasing decisions. Our focus remains the same as when we started out.
All of the items we sell are still antique or vintage items and most often come from downsizing and estate sales. Orders are still shipped in reclaimed or recycled packaging and items are still always in very good, most often excellent condition.
We've seen steady growth in spite of numerous challenges. Over the past eleven years, e-commerce has exploded and stores like ours have benefited from the shift to online purchasing. At the same time we, like so many other businesses, have been challenged by the political issues imposing increased tariffs on the goods we sell.
While US orders have leveled off, there has been a significant increase in Canadian and European orders. US import tariffs have dramatically impacted US purchasers however, our switch to selling in Canadian dollars has helped to offset the increased costs to our friends in the US and other countries.
So, our little business has proven to be resilient through the ever changing state of the world. We've recently done an accounting of orders and are very happy to see that we have now successfully shipped orders to,

Sometimes, the very simplest of ideas, if executed with determination, honesty and resilience can be the very best of ideas!
