A beautiful vintage wool wall hanging, signed in syllabics by the artist Martha Ikiperiak Eekerkik (1912-1979). From Arviat, Nunavut. This tapestry is in excellent, vintage condition.
Martha is known for her paintings and stone sculptures, but she is especially known for Inuit point beaded wall hangings, of which this piece is a beautiful example. Faces on the figures in this piece are from caribou.
