I believe this is a carving of a Standing Ruffled Grouse. It was hand carved and hand painted by William Kirkpatrick, who has been carving traditionally made decoys for many years.
All birds are carved and painted with the actual techniques of 1800's master decoy makers. Each is carved and painted by hand, using shavehorse, spokeshave, and drawknife.
In excellent, vintage condition. Marked on base of bird WEK.
