Roger Bourgault, Wood Sculpture, Outdoorsman

This is a wonderful Roger Bourgault (Canadian, 1938-2008) hand carved wooden sculpture of a hunter or outdoorsman, seated on rocks and holding a rifle.  Signed by the artist on the base. I'm unsure of the type of wood but it is in excellent condition. The base of this piece is covered by red felt to prevent scratching the surface of furniture.

Since the 1930s, the Bourgault family of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec has been world renowned for wood sculpture. Roger Bourgault is a well known master carver and son of Andre Bourgault, one of the original "Les trois berets".
